Colorado Springs offers a mix of mountain views and beautiful, red rock landscapes, making it an ideal choice for planning an elopement.

Colorado Springs feels absolutely magical for an elopement. You’ve got mountains in every direction, a mix of iconic and more tucked-away locations, and just enough accessibility to make the whole experience feel easy instead of overwhelming. Whether you’re planning something simple or building out a full, intentional day, it gives you a lot to work with without feeling complicated.
If you’re thinking about eloping in Colorado Springs, this guide covers everything you actually need to know, from where to go and the best time of year, to the logistics and where to stay. It’s a location that works whether you want something quiet and scenic or a little more structured, and you can shape the day in a way that really feels like you.

Colorado Springs stands out because it gives you a lot of variety without requiring a ton of effort to access it. Within a short drive, you can move between red rock formations, pine forests, open overlooks, and higher elevation mountain views, which makes it easy to create a day with many layers. You’re not set with a single backdrop or forced into a long hike just to find something beautiful. That flexibility also makes it ideal whether you’re planning something just the two of you or including a handful of guests, since there are plenty of locations that are both scenic and easy to get to.
It also tends to feel a little more relaxed compared to other mountain destinations. The logistics are straightforward, the city itself has everything you need nearby, and Colorado’s self-solemnization laws give you the freedom to structure your ceremony however you want. You can keep things simple with a quiet exchange of vows, or build out a full day that includes multiple locations, time to explore, and space to slow down in between. This mix of gorgeous scenery and convenience is really what makes Colorado Springs such an easy place to choose for an elopement.

Colorado Springs is filled with a variety of gorgeous locations that you could consider for your elopement. Here are a few of my favorites!
Garden of the Gods is one of the most well-known spots in Colorado Springs, and it really does live up to the hype. The red rock formations are dramatic and completely unique, and there are designated ceremony areas you can reserve. It’s very accessible, which makes it a great option if you’re bringing guests, but planning for sunrise or a weekday can help avoid crowds.
If you want something that feels a little quieter, North Cheyenne Cañon is a great option. There are some beautiful forested trails, small waterfalls, and scenic overlooks that feel really peaceful. It’s still easy to access, but it has a more secluded feel compared to some of the more popular spots.
For a higher elevation setting, Pikes Peak offers some of the most stunning, panoramic views in the area. You can drive most of the way up, which makes it convenient without a long hike. Just keep in mind that weather can change quickly, and it’s usually colder and windier at the top.
Palmer Park is a really underrated option. It has a mix of open rock formations and trails, with views overlooking the city and mountains. It’s less crowded than Garden of the Gods but still offers that classic Colorado landscape.
Right next to Garden of the Gods, Red Rock Canyon has similar red rock scenery but tends to be a bit quieter. There’s a lot of flexibility here, especially if you’re planning something simple and want room to explore.
If you’re wanting something more structured or private, there are also some really beautiful venues in the area.

Colorado Springs can be magical at any time of year, but the season does determine what the overall vibe of your day will look like. Here’s what you can expect during each time of year here!
Spring can be a bit unpredictable, but it’s also when everything starts to feel fresh and vibrant again. You’ll get a mix of warmer days and occasional snow, especially earlier in the season. If you’re okay with a little flexibility, it can be a really beautiful time to elope.
Summer is the most popular time, with warm weather and long days. Everything is accessible, including higher elevation locations, which makes planning easier. Afternoon thunderstorms are common, so aiming for sunrise or sunset is usually the best approach.
Fall is one of the best times to elope in Colorado Springs. The temperatures are cooler, the light feels softer, and you’ll get hints of changing leaves in nearby mountain areas. It’s also a little less busy than peak summer.
Winter brings a quieter, more peaceful feel. Snow-covered landscapes can be really beautiful, and just means layering a bit more with the chillier weather. It does require a bit more planning with weather and accessibility, but it can feel really intentional and unique.

Eloping in Colorado is actually pretty simple when it comes to logistics. You’ll apply for a Colorado marriage license, and one of the biggest perks is that you can self-solemnize, meaning you don’t need an officiant or witnesses if you don’t want them.
Depending on your location, you may need a permit, especially for places like Garden of the Gods or certain public lands. It’s always worth checking ahead so everything goes smoothly.
From there, it’s really about creating a timeline that feels natural. Whether that’s a sunrise ceremony, a midday break, and sunset photos, or something more relaxed, having a loose plan helps the day feel easy and unrushed.

Here are a few different options of where you can stay around Colorado Springs for your elopement:
You’ll also find plenty of Airbnbs and cabin rentals throughout Colorado Springs and nearby Woodland Park. These can be perfect if you want a more private space to get ready, spend a few days celebrating, or have a more peaceful stay out of town.
